Critiquer Air Canada est un peu un sport national ici. C’est vrai que par rapport aux voisins du sud, on a quand même beaucoup moins de choix pour voyager. En gros il ya WestJet, assez distant second joueur qui serait plus l’équivalent de JetBlue ou Southwest, et AC — la seule compagnie qui offre le plein service, comparable aux United, AA et autres Delta.
Et bien justement, comparons. J’ai la “chance” de souvent prendre des vols transfrontaliers, une fois sur deux sur AC et le reste sur UA ou AA (j’ai pris une fois CO, NW et DL respectivement). C’est juste mon opinion, mais très clairement je trouve AC au-dessus du lot. Bien sûr la comparaison est biaisée par le fait que mon statut sur AC/UA donne en général un service un peu plus attentif, mais il y a quand même des points objectifs:

So I haven’t posted in a week… I guess that’s what happens when I’m back in town. At least I have a decent sized list of youtube bookmarks to share — I wanted to start with a certain private dick that’s a sex machine to all the chicks, but that’s a little too easy now, isn’t it. (although I think the live version I’m linking to is worth checking out — Ike and Jesse Jackson!)
So instead here’s a slightly lesser-known “follow-up” by the Bar-Kays, who were quite possibly the funkiest men alive in their time. It’s fairly different from the album version I’m used to, but it’s certainly as much of a powerhouse. And the outfits totally rock.
It’s not easy choosing just one song from the Bar-Kays, as they seemed to put out one masterpiece after another in their heyday. So expect at least a couple more in the coming weeks.
Astute readers will have noted that I recently figured out YouTube is an amazing resource for music videos, and sometimes even music with no video. Whatever, it’s still pretty cool (and, I’m sure, pretty illegal. oh well, I’m just linkin’)
So in the spirit of sharing, I’ve decided to post random funky, groovy stuff every Friday. Because it rhymes, and more importantly because we all can’t wait for Saturday to begin.

Je pense que je vous avais pas raconté, mais quand j’étais allé à Santo Domingo pour deux semaines, j’avais l’intention de passer au moins un après midi à la plage pendant le week end. Le sort a voulu qu’un tanker s’échoue à proximité le jeudi précédent, mettant la plage ouverte la plus proche à 3h de « route » (je mets « route » parce que bon, c’est quand même la République Dominicaine).
Pour ce week end à Hong Kong, je pensais bien profiter pour visiter au maximum la ville à pied et prendre plein de photos. Cette fois, c’est à une tempête tropicale de catégorie 5 que je dois mon changement de programme. On a échappé au cyclone de justesse en fait, et samedi était assez apocalyptique. Je vous rassure tout de suite, ça m’a pas empêché de sortir (et d’acquérir au passage un superbe parapluie 7-eleven), mais niveau photos c’est plutôt restreint – ca se limite au dimanche matin, où on a eu une petite éclaircie.
I finally caught up on the jet lag — 12 hours, as bad as it gets. I don’t have any pictures yet, but I’ve shown you Wan Chai before. Hard to explain really, but there’s something cool about the narrow streets bordered by 60+ floor filthy tile-clad buildings, complete with dripping A/C units and hanging laundry, or those uninspiring restaurants flanked by a british pub and a tire repair shop the size of my bathroom where a 70 year old waiter/chef/handyman/retired gangster greets you in three languages, one of which you realize after 3 seconds is surprisingly familiar.
